Red Ribbon Week has always been a huge part of Hedenkamp and this year, our 6th graders have an opportunity to participate in the first CVESD Red Ribbon Campaign Visual Arts Competition! All submissions are DUE to homeroom teachers on/before Wednesday, September 18th.
Thank you to all our 6th graders and their families for this year’s Apex pledges!
Our monthly Husky Huddle will be on Monday, August 19 @8:45 am on the blacktop! Wear red or blue to show school spirit!
We will be singing the Star Spangled Banner for our patriotic song…we want to hear your awesome voices!
Star Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key, 1814
Oh, say can you see
By the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed
At the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars
Through the perilous fight
O’er the ramparts we watched
Were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare!
The bombs bursting in air!
Gave proof through the night
That our flag was still there
Oh, say does that star spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free
And the home of the brave?
Apex Fun Run is back!
Our fantastic Apex team will be visiting classrooms for the next 2 weeks and teaching lessons with this year’s theme, GAME ON! The Apex Fun Run will be taking place on Thursday, August 15 and sixth grade will be running from 10 to 11 am. We will be linking our class Apex pages for your donations!
Our first Husky Huddle is tomorrow, 7/29 at 8:45 am on the blacktop. 6th graders will line up by their blacktop letters instead of the 700 building.
We will also be singing Grand Ole Flag
You’re a Grand Old Flag
You’re a grand old flag
You’re a high-flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave
You’re the emblem of the land I love
The home of the free and the brave
Ev’ry heart beats true
‘Neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there’s never a boast or brag
But should auld acquaintance be forgot
Keep your eye on the grand old flag
We are looking forward to a great week ahead! 🙂
